The British Invasion is coming to the Horseshoe
As a hopeless Anglophile, I’ve often found myself obsessing over any and everything British whether it be history, literature, and even music. So, as a consequence of that, my CD collection includes a wide variety of iconic British rock such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, etc. While I’ve always loved the music of the 1960s British invasion, I’ve never been able to go to a concert…until now.
As part of their 2013 US tour, The Moody Blues, a music band from the British Invasion of the 1960s, are making a stop 8 p.m. ,Friday, March 15 at the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel’s Riverdome.
I’ve seen their YouTube videos and heard their music, but have never experienced them in person. If I had to explain it, I would say that their music bridges the gap between classical and rock/pop. The Moody Blues’ hit albums and songs have led to sold-out performances internationally. Their hit list includes “Nights in White Satin,” “Tuesday Afternoon,” and “I’m Just a Singer” – click on the song titles to take a quick listen.
Throughout the decades, The Moody Blues’ career success and longevity has not gone unnoticed. The New York Post said, “The trio looked remarkably sound and sounded untouched by time.” USA Weekend calls The Moody Blues, “a great rock n’ roll band with staying power beyond anybody’s wildest dreams.”
Featuring guitarist and vocalist Justin Hayward, bassist and vocalist John Lodge, and drummer Graeme Edge, The Moody Blues has withstood the test of time, continuing to produce new music while keeping to their classical/rock/pop roots.
