Here are some photos of our trip to West Ireland. We had an amazing time there and loved the Irish people! In total we visited 13 castles, some that have been restored and were heavily traveled by tourist and others we tromped through farmers fields among sheep and cattle to see the ruins. My husband was crazy about them and enjoyed analyzing the architecture of the stones and how the masons worked their magic. Taking in the past with the history of the 9 year war.. and the Protestant growth on the land during the Reformation time period.. very interesting. We stayed at a different place each night with the exception of staying at Lough Rynn Estate and Bruckless House for 2 nights each. My favorite being Lough Rynn.. their estate gardens and 6 mile walking trail was absolutely wonderful and the staff was amazing. Our riding adventure was a fun event as you can see from my husband's face. As always, accommodating to my passions .. cheerfully going along whatever I had in store - The Guinness helped too. ha! I did tell him I would love a walled garden.. a secret place in my world I can go to. There are so many to see in Ireland, although I can't grow the flowers they grow in our hot, dry weather. I would love to go back and spend more time there and learn of the Gaelic ways and the mysteries of their world.. and their "otherworld" beliefs.. I found it all so satisfying to my soul. It was a wonderful birthday present I will never forget.
