Summerfest 50 lineup includes Alessia Cara, the Shins, IshDARR and 137 other headliners
The headliner lineup for the landmark edition of "The World's Largest Music Festival" was revealed late Tuesday night on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Custom to tradition, the 11-day Milwaukee mega fest features the most wide-reaching roster of any U.S. festival. This year that includes influential electronic artist Flume; Joe Jonas' pop band DNCE; melodic hard rock act A Day to Remember; critic's darling Car Seat Headrest; country-pop trio the Band Perry; '80s hitmakers Huey Lewis & the News; and Auto-Tune embracing singer and rapper T-Pain.
There are several seasoned Summerfest regulars — including Phil Vassar, Dennis DeYoung, REO Speedwagon and AWOLNATION.
But for the first time, Summerfest's talent buying team has created a day where the headliners almost exclusively target millennials.
Independence Day this year features alternative pop act Miike Snow, rising Chicago rapper Saba, R&B singer Jamila Woods and country duo High Valley. The oldest band on the bill July 4 is Third Eye Blind.
Several Wisconsin artists are also headliners, including Milwaukee native and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Steve Miller with his band; former "American Idol" finalist Danny Gokey; and locally-based acts GGOOLLDD, IshDARR,Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, Dead Horses, Vinyl Theatre and Willy Porter.
Summerfest 50 runs June 28 to July 2 and July 4 to 9.
