How many Moody Blues concerts will you be seeing this summer? Will you be traveling from city-to-city? Let's talk about it here!

I have not seen the Moodies since last June in Cincinnati. It has been 19 years since I have gone this long between concerts, so I plan to rectify that
situation in August. I am going to four concerts. I will see the guys in Clarkston MI and Cleveland. I have never been to New York City, so I decided to fly
out for a few days, see the city and go to the Radio City Music Hall concert. My last concert will be Cincinnati.

Oh Pam, four shows! That's great! You deserve this Moodies vacation! Pack you camera and your scissors
(for clipping out local news articles, of course) and have a great time!

concert in Scranton | #4 | ||
|
Hi,
My 22-year old daughter and I are going to the concert in Scranton on August 14. I'd invited our third son, too, but he's busy that weekend and can't get home. With one thing or another, including raising four kids, I haven't gone to a concert since 1972 or 73! Anyway, Juli, the queen of peace signs and tie-dye (I just made her curtains for her grad school apartment, and she spiral tie-dyed them ) is excited; she even bought ME a tie-dyed top at Rue 21. It's kind of
floaty and reminds me of a maternity top, so I'm not sure if I'll wear, but I promised to try. lol
Anyone else going that night? Sue in PA, listening to Octave |

Sue the tie dye sounds wonderful......... I was planning to get out some old stuff and "retred" it this summer with some dye too. Fun isn't it? I
have a dear friend in the PA area, and it would be fun to see her again, but alas
all I can afford is local shows. (Yikes those were expensive enough!) doing the
five shows in the Pacific Northwest. Only gathering I know of will be in the Heathman in downtown Portland before the show, and that will be attended by all
thirsty fans, on line and NOT on line! LOL. Eugene, Britt and Chateau Suite Michelle always have big camp outs on the lawn before the shows. I have mad hippy
friends at all the shows, so I'm going to have fun!
Those doing the PacNW be sure to mapquest Eugene, Britt and C Ste. Michelle, as they are sorta stressful getting to if you've never been there before (I hate Eugene's street system). The Schnitz is pretty easy to find so long as you can find downtown Portland. Parking there sucks though, but crime rate is low. I'm taking the train up to Vancouver from Seattle, and I had to show them my passport before I could even get a ticket! Sheesh! Now to decide if I really want to take a bicycle or not.......... |

It is fun, lunazure (I love your name, BTW), and so cheerful-looking. When we did it I got nervous that we were going
to ruin something, but Juli was calm. She always mixes colors and tries all kinds of gumbanding methods. Can you tell I'm from Pittsburgh?
We also tie-dyed a sundress when we did the curtains and both things turned
out great. I'm convinced it's the dominant right brain; she's a bassoonist, but is also very arty. I'm so left-brained that when I draw on the
board at school my students laugh! Sue

Man, I'm jealous. They cancelled all the shows in my area and it's a bad time to take off work...so I won't be seeing them. Take lots of pictures
you guys...it's the next best thing to being there!

letting out all that creativity | #12 | ||

Sue you've been reading Dragons of Eden too much! LOL no one in the business uses the ol' right brain left
brain thang anymore. But I get cha. You just have to uncork that creative genie and let her out of the bottle!
I'm getting my embroidery ready to go on the road, so I'll have
something to do while I line sit! :) My best creative medium is needlework, so I try to stick to my strengths.
BTW my middle name is Sue :) It was hot hot in the Pacific Northwest today, very clear, no clouds. You'd better hope it stays that way, LOL if you are headed THIS way.......... gonna cloud up again after the 4th!

I'll be going to see them in Buffalo shortly after my Aug 21 birthday. I think it's the 23rd but not sure right now. I'm taking the family as my
two girls haven't ever seen them live!
Oops, now I'm going either to Cleveland on the 11th or Buffalo on the 18th.

It sounds like they have a strict no-cameras policy, so I doubt if I'll get in with a camera like mine. My friends have smaller ones, so maybe we'll
get something.

It's always a good idea to talk to the ushers. I've never had trouble with this.... only once in South Carolina was I afraid to take photos openly, and
I snuck off a few anyway. Basically 1) DON'T USE A FLASH. How rude and 2) ask the ushers to talk to the tour manager, because once they they understand the
Moodies DON'T care (so long as you don't flash) they will leave you alone.

Ironstone Vineyard's website states a no-camera policy for their amphitheatre shows. But these days, with cell phone and compact digital cameras,
there's always a lot of photography attempted at any concert. It just depends on the policy of the venue and how strict they are in enforcing it. And how
lucky you are - at the Prescott Valley concert, in March, they let me walk right in with a "professional" camera (too big to conceal), even though
their policy prohibited them. I happily shot pictures right by the stage, right in front of security and ushers, for two-thirds of the show, until a security
boss, making her rounds, tapped me on the shoulder, and said I can't use that kind of camera, while scores of cell phone cameras (with flashes) were going
off constantly around us. I said "okay", and sat down in my seat. ( I was never blocking anyone's view while shooting) Five minutes later, she
was gone, and I continued shooting the rest of the show - although I missed getting any good shots of Graeme during Higher and Higher - (DARN!!) I was once
threatened with either eviction, or camera confiscation - can't remember which - after getting only two shots at a Phoenix concert. So it basically depends
on getting the camera in, and not being harrassed by security/ushers, and that can vary greatly from venue to venue. Ah! - the good old days at Circus Maximus
- right Taran?
I may try to get in with my "professional" camera, anyway, if the walk back to my car isn't too far. (Ever since I got turned away at the door with my camera, at a Genesis concert in Chicago, and had to walk almost a mile to return it to my car.... and that was 25 years ago!) |
