A Catherine Wheel | #4 | ||

Although we are celebrating our independence from England, Moody Blues fans may enjoy seeing a picture of a "Catherine Wheel" (a British firework).
Ray Thomas mentions them in the song "Eternity Road."

A wonderful summer here! | #9 | ||

I spent my morning cutting the weeds in the backyard! I have maniacs for neighbors, and anticipate a lot of bottle rockets landing in the yard. Gotta go out
and water here shortly.......a LOT.
The Fourth is always interesting, there's a super good series running on the History channel "The Revolution", and I've been watching it while getting ready for barbeque at 4 this afternoon (my son has deigned to arrive). Having dug into my geneology, I count a Hessian, Redcoat officers, Native Americans, and British Rangers as family during the Revolution. Other ancestors were "just folks" living in New England (one was killed by Indians, probably during the Revolution). Try as I might, I can't find any of those folks who took up arms FOR our Independence! LOL. But after the dust settled, we are all Americans. Corn, chicken, brauts, burgers ....... lots of food going on the barby here! :) the view from our hill lets us see the fireworks at the Space Needle, so it will be a nice night, and maybe we can even go out and look for the space station going over! the weather has been great. Everyone be safe, lock up the dogs and kitties so they don't freak out, and keep lots of cold water handy. |

In Ohio we had some sun this morning. Nice for the parade but then it got cloudy and just some very light drizzle which turned to sprinkles for most of the
evening. Was able to go to the community pig roast in our city park. They had a nice local band perform and they played a lot of oldies. The fireworks finished
just before it started raining again. All in all a nice 4th. Love all your fouth of july graphics Wordbirdie!

Thanks, Pam. Always try to keep things bright and cheerful, I say. Hobart, IN is a town of about
30,000 people and they usually put on a delightful July 4th parade down main street and then live band music in the Rivelli Bandshell on Lake George. It's
very small-town-Midwest-America fare ~~ just like in Ohio. Sadly, they did get rained-out today, but it did little to dampen spirits as folks were outside at
dusk with their fireworks, come what may. The parade will take place tomorrow and we've been PROMISED sun.
Bob, it IS about the bbq's and stuff because they give families and friends wonderful opportunities to get together in a positive way and to me nothing says AMERICA more than that. Besides, our Jill asked us at the onset of this thread if we were planning picnics or whatever and we were just cordially responding. Birdie

hope they have hang overs!!!!!
I feel like a wrung out rag. I know............ it must have been the Foster's maybe I can go back to sleep. I had such a bad case of insomnia last night I was up at 2:44 to see the ISS go over......... it's like a tomb
outside right now. No one up here yet........

180-degrees about from yesterday's sogginess! It is sunny and gorgeous today! And those showers just made the greenery and floral colors abounding all that
more intense.
