One of the most progressive and inventive bands of the original ’60s British Invasion, the Moody Blues, kicks off its first cross-Canada tour at the Halifax Metro Centre on Thursday, Sept. 15.
The current lineup for the band’s Precious Cargo tour includes original members Graeme Edge, John Lodge and Justin Hayward.
All three performed on the band’s symphonic 1967 album Days of Future Passed and its iconic hit Nights in White Satin, following the Moody Blues’ initial incarnation as an R&B-based band with former guitarist and future Wings member Denny Laine.
The Moody Blues continued to record and have hits into the ’80s with albums like Long Distance Voyager and The Other Side of Life, which gave the band a 1986 hit in Your Wildest Dreams.
Following the retirement of founding member Roy Thomas in 2002, the core trio of Edge, Lodge and Hayward continued to tour, releasing the Christmas album December in 2003 and overseeing archival reissues of their original recordings as well as archival performances from the BBC tape vaults in 2007.
Tickets for the Halifax show go on sale on Friday at 9 a.m. They range in price from $49.50 to $82.50, and are available at the Ticket Atlantic box office (451-1221 or 1-877-451-1221, or www.ticketatlantic.com) and Atlantic Superstore outlets.
